The Protein gallery in Shoreditch, London, played host to the opening of the “We are Tekken” Instagram project. Celebrity fans of Tekken including Professor Green, Rizzle Kicks, Adam Deacon, Mclean and members of Roll Deep were all in attendance to view the outstanding collection of winning images and get hands on with TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2™ which was released on Friday.
In a first of its kind for the games industry, the “We are Tekken” Instagram project played on the “Tag” element of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and asked fans from around the globe to use Instagram to tag photos that showed what Tekken means to them. The initiative received hundreds of submissions from fans across the globe and the top 40 entries, as judged by world-renowned rock and roll artist Vince Ray, went on display at the Protein gallery.
The event not only showcased the artistic talents of the worldwide Tekken fan base but also in attendance was Jim Vision from the creative collective End of the Line. The group, famous for their contemporary street art and graffiti work produced a huge 4m2 backdrop of Tekken favourite, Devil Jin, live during the course of the evening. Check out their work here.
“The event really was a phenomenal success, the quality of submissions for the Instagram project was fantastic and everyone loved watching End of the Line’s live art work” said Lee Kirton Marketing Director of Namco Bandai “Having celebrities such as Professor Green and Adam Deacon in attendance really was the icing on the cake of an outstanding launch event.”
