Epic Games has been expanding and adding features to the Epic Games Store since its launch back in December 2018. In a blog post from the Epic Games Team, some of the things coming to the Epic Games Store were announced including a Party System.

Speaking on the Party System specifically, Epic Games said:

“In the future, the Epic Games Launcher will feature a new party system that enables players to group together and communicate via voice, text, and more. You’ll drop in or drop out at any point of a party experience with shared controls among all teammates. Talk to your friends and teammates whether you are playing a game or hanging out while searching for a new game to play together.”

Epic goes on to talk about the Party Window that’ll offer an “Active Party Window” where you can share highlights with your friends, or start a match with one or two of those friends from that larger Party Window.

Epic explains that there “will be no single owner of the party” so you won’t have to worry about the Party Window being closed once the host goes offline. You’ll be able to drop in and out of the Party as needed, and lock the Party to prevent more people from joining.

Epic didn’t say when exactly this Party System will go live in the Epic Games Store, so we recommend staying for future updates from them on the subject if the Party System is something you’ve been wanting to see added.

Moving down the blog post, Epic Games shared some info on features coming to the Epic Games Store later this month. According to Epic, they’re revamping their Social Panel with things like Player Cards, Minimized View, Do Not Disturb, and Improved Search.

Explaining what Player Cards do, Epic wrote:

“Viewing the card will allow the player to take important actions to manage their friendship and see mutual friends. In the future, you’ll also be able to join their party, invite them to a new party, and even customize your Player Card.”

The rest of the features are relatively straightforward, with Minimized View allowing for the Social Panel to be minimized without having to have it in a separate window. Do Not Disturb will let your friends know you’re busy and not to bother you, and Improved Search will make it easier to connect with people as it’ll show information like mutual friend count.
