For those of you who were worried that Bethesda’s awesome stealth/action game Dishonored would be buried underneath more familiar franchises, you can calm down. The fact of the matter is, it’s performing extremely well, to the point that we could be looking at sequels in the future.
Speaking with Destructoid, Bethesda VP of marketing Pete Hines stated that the game is “far exceeding our sales expectations”, as it “did terrific numbers again” over Thanksgiving weekend (and no doubt with some Black Friday sales), across both retail and Steam. In fact, it reached the number one spot on Valve’s game service. Dishonored also performed extremely well overseas during the past month, too.
“Clearly, we have a new franchise,” said Hines.
Though sales numbers weren’t revealed, 460,000 copies did make it out within the first month in North America, with huge sell-through rates. It shouldn’t be long now before it clears well over the million mark, cementing Corvo’s newfound place in the game industry.
And with the Dunwall City Trials set to debut via DLC next month, you can bet he’s got more killing to do.
Dishonored is available now for Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3.
