Activision and Bungie surprised fans today with a live action Destiny trailer that stars three friends who set out to enjoy some co-op, exploring the Moon, Mars and Venus. Although it lacks in-game footage, the spot definitely gets the point across by showcasing the title’s social nature and the different ways players can work together to tackle missions.
Visually it’s a stunner, with the actors cutting through a plethora of enemies on the first environment and matching wits with a snarling creature in the second before moving on to a lush forest.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the video game world tapped Hollywood to create a live action trailer. We’ve seen this for years with the Halo franchise, which features games also developed by Bungie. Microsoft released several impressive trailers, most recently for Halo 4. However, we prefer this one for Halo 3: ODST.
Moving on, who can forget Deliver Hope for Halo: Reach?
Then we have the classic Museum ad for Halo 3. No action to speak of, but impactful all the same.
On that note, what do you think of the Destiny live action trailer? On par with these Halo videos? Better or worse? Let us know.
