Fast Forward five years to today and the franchise has evolved in a whole array of ways that include multiple expansions and a full-blown sequel. The Destiny community has become one of the largest and most passionate in the video game world, and plenty of popular content creators have grown full-time careers out of their work with Destiny. With there being so much to celebrate and look back on, the Destiny community has been in full force when it comes to celebrating the fifth anniversary of the franchise’s existence on September 9th, 2019.

Combing first-person shooter gameplay with an MMO world and RPG elements, the Destiny franchise is easily one of the most unique gaming experiences a player can find in today’s video game industry. While the franchise has not been perfect, it has led to countless enjoyable memories for millions of players across the world in the past five years.
The future of the Destiny franchise moving forward from its fifth anniversary is looking extremely bright with the upcoming release of the highly anticipated Shadowkeep expansion for Destiny 2. There is also the official launch of Destiny 2: New Light to look forward to where the popular franchise will become free-to-play and allow for even more Guardians to be created and enjoy the labor of love Bungie has been building over the past five years.
