We’re just about two weeks away from the release of 2K Sports’ wrestling sim WWE 2K14, and the publisher has just unveiled yet another reason why we can’t wait to get our hands on it – the Undertaker’s streak.
The company has just introduced a new mode that focuses on the dark, decadent WWE wrestler, titled The Streak. It refers to his undefeated streak at the yearly Wrestlemania event, which stands at 21-0. In this new mode, you’ll have the ability to either step into the ring and stop the Streak with your wrestler of choice, or put on the boots of the Undertaker and defend it to your best ability.
There are rewards for trying to defeat The Streak, especially if you do it as one of the wrestlers he’s beaten over the past two decades, like Triple H, Shawn “The Heartbreak Kid” Michaels or, most recently, C.M. Punk. You’ll unlock bonus content as a result, though it hasn’t been specified just yet.
No matter which way you go – defeating or defending The Streak – you’ll be rated in a number of areas during the match, including excitement, drama, showmanship and the length of the bout. The longer you go, and the less stuff you repeat, the more likely it is your match will be the stuff of legend – like the pair of matches the Undertaker had with Triple H, which are considered amongst Wrestlemania’s best.
One word of warning – the difficulty will be hard. No one ever said defeating the Undertaker was easy.
WWE 2K14 releases on October 29th for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
