Darksiders 4 was originally teased in 2024 and revealed in 2025, but has been largely absent from the news ever since that reveal. Today, Embracer Group posted its Q1 Interim Report, which finally provides an update on its upcoming titles, including Darksiders 4, which still seems a ways away.

Darksiders 4 Is Expected Between April 2027 and March 2028

In the Embracer Group’s Q1 FY 2026/27 Interim Report, published today, Embracer Group confirmed that Darksiders 4 is expected to release during FY 2027/28, which means anytime between April 2027 and March 2028. Here is the relevant section from the report:

In FY 2027/28, we expect the release of the next game in the Kingdom Come franchise from Warhorse Studios, Darksiders 4 from Gunfire Games, as well as the externally published Tomb Raider: Catalyst from Crystal Dynamics along with Flying Wild Hog and Eidos Montréal.

It’s still being developed by Gunfire Games, but the report didn’t provide a concrete release date. Darksiders 4 isn’t the only game to get an update, as Embracer also confirmed that the next Kingdom Come game from Warhorse Studios is expected in the same fiscal year.

Tomb Raider: Catalyst is also expected in FY 2027/28, which aligns with the delay announcement. Meanwhile, Metro 2039 and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis are the major releases for the current FY 2026/27, with both scheduled for February 2027. The report also confirmed that Metro 2039 has already reached 1 million wishlists faster than any game in Embracer’s history.

That’s all we’ve gotten in terms of updates on Darksiders 4. It’s still nice to hear that it’s in development, especially given the state of the industry and the lack of updates from the publisher or developer, but we’ll all have to wait a while before we can play it. If it’s targeting a 2027 release, we’ll likely get a proper reveal later this year, potentially at The Game Awards.

After the largely disappointing reception of Darksiders 3, there are plenty of expectations surrounding the upcoming title, and it’s clear that the team is taking its time to ensure the proper reveal makes an impact. Here’s hoping it captures what made the first two games so special, especially since the series managed to carve out its own identity among so many prominent action titles.
