Crimson Desert Confirms Cross-Save, Story Improvements, DLC Plans, and More
Not done yet!
Pearl Abyss has been updating Crimson Desert almost weekly since its launch. With more content, bug fixes, improvements, and quality-of-life updates, it’s a vastly improved title now, with so much to do.
The team behind the ambitious RPG isn’t done yet, and they’ve confirmed that they’re finally adding cross-saves, a DLC, and a lot more to Crimson Desert.
Crimson Desert June – September 2026 Preview
In a developer update, Pearl Abyss has shared a preview of what players can expect in the months leading up to September. The roadmap includes efforts to tighten the story and improve the overall narrative, addressing one of the most common criticisms from both critics and players. Changes are also coming to Re-Blockade to make the activity feel more natural and rewarding, alongside the introduction of new defensive mechanics for strongholds.
The developer is also planning to add new combat-focused content, while improving non-combat activities through quality-of-life updates that make trading and farming less cumbersome. However, the two biggest additions outlined in the roadmap are cross-save support and a larger focus on Damiane and Oongka’s gameplay and involvement, whose roles will be expanded to share more of the spotlight with Kliff.

Cross-save support will allow players to carry their progress across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. For those who own the game on multiple platforms, this will make it far easier to continue their adventure wherever they choose to play. It will obviously require some form of account linking to work, but that’s to be expected.
Finally, Crimson Desert is getting DLC. Up until now, all new content introduced by the developers has arrived through free updates, but Pearl Abyss has confirmed that this DLC will be a meaningful addition to the journey through Pywel. No details regarding its scope, length, or pricing have been revealed yet, but it sounds like the studio is planning something more substantial than a typical content update. Based on the wording, it could end up being a full-fledged expansion rather than a smaller DLC pack.
Now, concrete dates for the updates haven’t been shared, but Pearl Abyss has confirmed that they’ll start rolling out these features starting from June to September. They’ve also asked players to continue providing feedback, as that has been essential to improving Crimson Desert over these last few months.

Crimson Desert, for all its faults, was exactly what Pearl Abyss showcased for the last few years. It’s an ambitious game that has only become better with time, and it’s great to see the studio work on its flaws, even in the story department, to fully realize its potential. If you’ve been holding off on buying Crimson Desert, it’s in a pretty good state right now and will only get better in the coming months.
