The Creator of Earthworm Jim and Neverhood Returns With Armikrog

Doug Tennapel and his team at Pencil Test Studios are cooking up something good.

Back in the 90’s there were a number of great platformers that have transformed into cult classics.  Two that stand out in our minds are Earthworm Jim and the delightfully kooky Skullmonkeys, both the brainchild of creator Doug Tennapel.  Now, that mastermind is back with an all new project… and it’s one you can help move along.

Armikrog is a new clay-animated project that fuses action and puzzle-solving, featuring a rather strange character that’s right up there with Skullmonkeys’ Klaymen as well as Earthworm Jim.  This game will feature plenty of great puzzles and worlds to explore, as well as the vocal talents of such folks as Mike Nelson from Rifftrax, Jon Heder (yep, Napoleon Dynamite himself), Veronica Belmont and more.

Tennapel recently launched a KickStarter page to help gather the $900,000 needed to start production on the game.  Ample awards await, and so far it’s nearing $200k with 28 days left.  God speed Armikrog!

You can contribute to the campaign here as well as check out videos, concept art and all sorts of ridiculous stuff that only Tennapel can deliver.

Now if only someone would bring back Skullmonkeys in HD…
