As a surprise to no one, Namco Bandai confirmed today that, yes, when the new Super Smash Bros. game rolls around for Wii U and 3DS sometime over the next year or so, it’ll feature a slew of fresh faces to combat the familiar Nintendo superstars that made the first three iterations such hits.  Now the real question is, who will it be?

As he was delivering the keynote address at this year’s CEDEC developers conference, Smash creator Masahiro Sakurai (who’s also directing this installment) stated that he didn’t have much to say about the new game yet, but that “it’s fun making new skills for new characters.”

Now, being a Namco/Nintendo joint property, speculation is we’ll be seeing one familiar face from the Tekken brand, and possibly a few of Namco’s classic faces, including Pac-Man.  But nothing is confirmed till we see it in action.  We’ll keep you informed as this game progresses.
