One of the benefits of the Xbox Backwards Compatibility program is that it means players don’t have to pay for the same game twice. This includes all titles under this nostalgia-driven program, including – for this generation – Xbox One X free upgrades. It looks like Microsoft is continuing this availability into the next generation and CD Projekt RED confirms that this will include Cyberpunk 2077. That’s right! If you’ve got Cyberpunk 2077 for the Xbox One and opt to buy an Xbox Series X later, you won’t have to pay for the high-tech RPG twice.
Gamers should never be forced to purchase the same game twice or pay for upgrades. Owners of #Cyberpunk2077 for Xbox One will receive the Xbox Series X upgrade for free when available. https://t.co/nfkfFLj85w

We’ll get to see how exactly this exciting new title plays out when it debuts on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on September 17, 2020. For more about the upcoming open-world adventure:
“The game follows the story of V — a hired gun on the rise in Night City, the most violent and dangerous metropolis of the corporate-ruled future. A robust character creator will allow players to choose V’s gender, visual appearance, character class, as well as historical background — all of which may influence the shape of the game,” the summary reads. “With dozens of hours of main story arc quests, and many more of additional activities, there’s always something to see and do in Night City. Players will experience all of it entirely through V’s eyes, with an interactive dialogue system that gives them greater narrative agency.”
