Capcom loves its fighting audiences in the U.S. just as much as it does in Japan – even though we don’t have nearly as many fighting game arcades as they do. (It’s gotta happen someday though.)
Today, Christian Svensson, Capcom senior vice president, stated that two PlayStation 2 classics, Capcom Fighting Jam and Capcom vs. SNK 2, which are both available now in the Japanese PlayStation Network store, will find a release here in the U.S. sometime in 2013.
He feels that the “timing will be quite different though from Japan,” but the games are definitely coming, with all the modes featured in the original games. (No online play, though. Sorry.)
Both games are popular crossover favorites, especially Fighting Jam, which takes characters from various franchises and pits them against one another in combat. Capcom vs. SNK 2 is a classic as well, featuring the likes of Ryu, Chun Li, Mai Shiranui and Haohmaru, amongst others.
We’ll have news once the games get official release dates. Oh, and Capcom? Don’t forget about Rival Schools! We want that released in our market, too!
