Black Ops 4: Multiplayer Reveal Trailer

As was expected, Treyarch kicked off their presentation today with a gameplay reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 multiplayer, which you can watch below. The multiplayer mode takes place in between the narrative worlds of the second and third Black Ops games.

Black Ops 4’s gameplay will be ‘boots on the ground’ according to Treyarch, which means there shouldn’t be any wall-running or jump boosts. Treyarch has also removed auto-healing in Black Ops 4 multiplayer. Instead, players will have to heal their characters manually or find a Medic to do so, encouraging a more thoughtful and tactical approach to combat.

The Specialists from Black Ops 3 are back once again with their unique hero-like powers, though they won’t have the same mobility as before. Many fans are saying that the multiplayer gameplay looks a bit more akin to Rainbow Six: Siege than a typical Call of Duty, which should make for an interesting approach to multiplayer.

Black Ops 4: Zombies Trailers

In lieu of a single player campaign, Treyarch has put their efforts into revamping Zombies mode for Black Ops 4. Based on the two trailers revealed for Black Ops 4 Zombies today, there appears to be an element of time travel involved in the new Zombies mode. Four fighters must battle hordes of undead in various scenarios, two of which take place in entirely different time periods.

In the Zombies IX trailer, the four heroes are preparing to battle a horde of newly-created zombies in a Roman fighting arena. The other Black Ops 4 Zombies trailer, titled Voyage of Despair, shows those same heroes slaying zombies aboard the Titanic.

Aside from the potential time-travel aspect, one of the biggest features being added to Zombies this time around is the ability to slot AI characters onto your team. Since Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is ditching its single player campaign, this will be a decent alternative for those who still want to play solo. This feature seems like a long time coming, but better late than never.

Black Ops 4: Blackout

As many fans had speculated prior to today’s event, Treyarch has also created their very own Battle Royale mode for Black Ops 4 called Blackout. The mode will feature a map 1500 times bigger than Nuketown, making it the largest Call of Duty map to date. Details are sparse regarding the new Blackout mode, but you can get an idea of what to expect in the Blackout reveal trailer below.

It’s also worth noting that the PC version of Black Ops 4 will be available exclusively on Blizzard’s Battle.net service platform rather than Steam. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, considering Call of Duty is one of Activision’s franchises.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is scheduled to release on October 12, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via Battle.net). Pre-orders for Black ops 4 are available now and will grant exclusive access to the Private Beta playtest later this year.
