After the explosive Borderlands 3 gameplay reveal trailer earlier this month, excitement for the next Pandora adventure has definitely ramped up. During the event, Gearbox Boss Randy Pitchford touched a little bit on future DLC and expansion plans, and now we’ve got a closer look at what that will entail.

A recent interview with lead boss designer Matt Cox revealed a bit more about what’s in store for the next game including raids and special endgame events. For those familiar with the looter shooter franchise, endgame content is nothing new, and the third installment wants to honor what the series is known for – just in a much bigger way than before.

According to Cos, Borderlands 3 has four full story expansions planned for Borderlands 3, though he was careful not to reveal any details about how they will branch off from the main narrative. Luckily, we know that Gearbox has something special in mind for E3, so it’s likely we could be learning more about the expansions then, as well as another segment of the story with possible new gameplay.

We were at the gameplay reveal event earlier this week and had an absolute blast with our hands-on time with the game. You can read all about what we thought right here, with a small blurb below:

“Despite a few technical difficulties and Cyclone nightmare, Borderlands 3 was everything I wanted to be. Though the Calypso Twins, the game’s main villain, might not be to everyone’s taste due to their off-brand streamer personalities, the overall experience felt incredibly familiar while offering up a new experience at the same time.”

As for the game itself, Borderlands 3 is slated for a September 13th release date on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC through Epic Games.
