With the second trailer now revealed for Gearbox’s Borderlands 3 confirming not only its September release date but also its Epic Games Store limited-time exclusivity deal, some new information has arrived as for what fans can expect later this year. According to a recent listing spotted for Xbox One, the third installment will offer cross-platform play, though the studio themselves have not mentioned it at this time.

According to the official Microsoft Store game listing, the upcoming title will offer the following features:

  • Local multiplayer
  • Online multiplayer
  • Local co-op
  • Online co-op
  • Cross-platform co-op
  • Shared / Split-screen

The cross-platform availability was quickly removed, but not before the original listing went viral. We reached out to 2K Games and Gearbox for comment and will update this story the second we hear back. Until we can get some kind of confirmation, it’s likely that the cross-platform play is specifically talking about PC and Xbox One since Microsoft has been pushing hard on blending the two platforms.

Though Sony has been warming up to the idea of cross-platform accessibility, it has been slow rolling out. It would be very surprising to see the PlayStation platform on board with this, but we have until September for them to make their own intentions known.

Gearbox has already confirmed that there will be a full gameplay reveal on May 1st, which means we’re likely to have an official confirmation one way or another then.

Borderlands 3 is slated for a September 13th release for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC through the Epic Games Store. For more about the game before its arrival:

“The original shooter-looter returns, packing bazillions of guns and an all-new mayhem-fueled adventure. Blast your way through new worlds and enemies as one of four brand new Vault Hunters, each with deep skill trees, abilities, and customization. Play solo or join with friends to take on insane enemies, collect loads of loot and save your home from the most ruthless cult leaders in the galaxy.”
