The company has announced that development on the highly anticipated sequel has been finalized, and has entered the certification phase.  Gearbox themselves stated, “In other words, the game is finished and we cannot make any further changes to the game.”

Continuing on, Gearbox revealed the next phase of their game plan – downloadable content.  “As such, the team is now shifting their focus towards post-launch efforts,” says a statement on the company’s website.  “including the Necromancer, the new character class that will be released as free downloadable content to members of the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club roughly 60 to 90 days after launch.”  (You can join that club here.)

Borderlands 2 hits stores on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on September 18th.
