Bleeding Edge: A New Game From Ninja Theory

The latest title from DmC and Hellblade creators is going to be wild.

The next game from Ninja Theory, the now Microsoft-owned studio behind Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, is a multiplayer melee combat game. Bleeding Edge has you taking control of one of a plethora of colorful and over-the-top characters in order to beat the sense out of your opponents. Each match pits 4 against 4 in third-person combat and it looks like it could be a lot of fun. It’ll even be coming to Game Pass.

While this might seem like a bit of a stretch given the tone of Hellblade, it is important to remember that before that the studio was responsible for DmC, Enslaved, and Heavenly Sword. All three of which are stellar action games with combat that is as smooth as butter and just as satisfying.

Given that the combat director of DmC Rahni Tucker is part of the team making it, we can expect some incredibly slick feeling moves and probably some great combo systems. Though how this will all be balanced is anyone’s guess. Though the one thing we know for sure is that it looks wild.

Set in a world where chaos seems to reign supreme, the character designs are all suitably whacky. Buttercup rides around on a giant wheel and uses spinning blades to attack, Nidhoggr has a flamethrower in his mouth, and Kulev looks to be an undead with a mechanical snake. It even looks like there is some kind of ultimate move system and it is very hard to not feel like it’s Overwatch but with more punching.

The good news is that there is a technical alpha that starts on June 27th. This will be a good time to see what people make of it and how well the servers and systems work. RELEASE DATE AND PLATFORMS
