Blanc, a co-op game starring a fawn and a wolf cub, will arrive in 2023

Blanc is a game that combines 3D models with 2D art.

LEGO Fortnite players on Reddit are getting frustrated at the bad inventory system.

Today’s Nintendo Direct came with plenty of interesting announcements for PC gamers to look forward to. Some of these announcements, such as the Sonic Frontiers news, came as no surprise. But others, like the reveal of the new Pac-Man World remake, shook things up in a pleasant way. One other surprise came in the form of Blanc, a co-op adventure game developed by Casus Ludi. This one will definitely appeal to players looking for an emotional, minimalist experience. Those interested in trying out Blanc can do so once it arrives on Steam and the Epic Games Store in February 2023.

Blanc’s art style immediately sticks out upon first seeing the trailer. Although the game depicts its environments and characters using 3D models, the aesthetic utilizes hand-drawn textures and design elements that make everything pop. Additionally, the visuals boast a monochromatic color scheme that ends up working perfectly for the game’s snow-covered environments.

Make it through the snow together

As for the story, it stars a wolf cub and a fawn who come across each other in the middle of a snowstorm. At first, they’re hostile towards each other, but soon enough, they end up learning to bond and cooperate with each other in order to survive the elements and make their way back to their families. The gameplay reinforces their need for cooperation, as they each come with unique strengths that are necessary for progression. Players make use of these animals’ talents with only two buttons aside from movement, and they will experience the story of these two unlikely companions without reading or hearing any dialogue.

All in all, Blanc looks like a pleasant game to play with a friend, and its story promises to leave some players reaching for tissues on the regular. This serves as Casus Ludi’s first game, so hopefully, the developer will knock this one right out of the park.
