Baldur’s Gate 3 Reveals Over 1.2 Million Players Have Become Wheels of Sentient Cheese

The ultimate cheese strat.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 official Twitter account revealed on December 5 all manner of player stats accrued since the game’s release in August. These include the likes of how many players have finished the game and how many have made it through Honour Mode. The most important, however, include how many times Scratch the dog has been petted and how many players have become sentient cheese wheels.

According to the latest statistics, 1.3 million players have conquered Baldur’s Gate 3, which is an already staggering number in its own right. It’s accompanied by an absolutely mind-boggling total playtime of over 452 million hours—or almost 52,000 years. In addition, out of approximately 158,000 Honour Mode playthroughs, 464 have been completed successfully, and more than 34,000 have fallen.

Alongside these more serious stats are some more lighthearted ones, including the fact that over 1.24 million players have, at some point, transformed into a sentient cheese wheel. Even larger numbers crop up, such as 2 million players “surviv[ing] a dinosaur attack” and the ever-important knowledge that Scratch has been petted 48.5 million times.

These are outstanding numbers, but players are still discovering new details in Baldur’s Gate 3. Since the thread has gone live, numerous Twitter users have expressed shock over the existence of a dinosaur in the game and even over the ability to turn into cheese. In addition, some users have referenced how they’ve contributed to the numbers, both seriously and jokingly.

User @lulapinn jokes about the mind-boggling 8196 total years spent in the Character Creator being mostly from them, a sentiment I feel in my very bones.

Other noteworthy stats from the Baldur’s Gate 3 account Tweet include Gale being “the most played Origin character in the game, closely followed by Astarion” at over 446,000 and 424,000 selections, respectively. When it comes to romance, Shadowheart’s romance arc has been completed by more than 51% of players, although 66% of players who were given the option “request[ed] that Halsin bare all—not bear all.”

The Larian Studios official Twitter account confirmed on November 15 that the Xbox release date for Baldur’s Gate 3 will be revealed at the upcoming Game Awards show on December 7. It will be fascinating to see how these stats grow and change once Baldur’s Gate 3 releases for Xbox Series X|S.
