There’s a new hack that gives players Star Fragment trees in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but you’re going to want to know the right people. Star Fragments are a key resource in the adorable island game, which naturally drew the eye of in-game modders. The latest hack? Making Star Fragment trees to look like Bell trees, and function like them too.

For those that don’t know, money trees are amazing because you plant a set amount and return three days later to fully grown Bell trees with a nice little increase in the sum of currency. The Star Fragment trees work in the same way; once you shake the fragments out to collect them, they won’t regrow.

Personally, I haven’t been able to get one myself but to be fair – I’ve fallen off of the New Horizons wagon a bit. That being said, people won’t stop tagging me in these creations for a write-up, so now I’m jealously writing up gorgeous Star Fragment trees that I will likely never actually have. It’s fun.

So how does one get these coveted Fragmented Star trees? Well, you’re going to want to head to the Black Market. The Black Market Discord channel, we mean. You can also find the abundant clickbait “Share this post to win” posts all over Twitter and Reddit but those are 99% scams to increase follower count, nothing more.

Also, if you happen to know some New Horizons modders, become close friends with them. They’ll hook you up, especially with craftable items that are not quite ready yet to be officially launched in-game.

Mildly jelly like us? A word of caution: Animal Crossing: New Horizons seems very modding-friendly, but Nintendo is not a mod-friendly company, so any hacking, extended exploits, and the like carry a risk of corrupting those save files and potentially putting all of that hard work into the garbage can. Is a Star Fragment tree worth that?

Maybeeeeeeeee.

Regardless of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons hack that gives the gift of Star Fragment trees, the game itself is available now on Nintendo Switch.
