Hot on the heels of the successful game released last year, Marvel Entertainment and Activision have announced that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will swing its way to store shelves in spring 2014.
The sequel, once again being developed by the team at Beenox, who worked on the original as well as other Spidey games, features plenty of new action in the city, and also lets you brush elbows with a number of villains, including the powerful Electro, who’s played in the movie by Jamie Foxx. You can get a glimpse of the trailer in the debut trailer below, which first appeared on IGN.
“The first The Amazing Spider-Man game gave players their own beautifully animated, free-roaming city of Manhattan to traverse and explore – a playground of majestic scale in which to live out our common hero fantasies,” said Thomas Wilson, Co-Studio Head of Beenox. “And the overwhelming message from fans was: ‘MORE!’ That’s what our team is working toward with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – we’re giving gamers more abilities, more upgrades, more challenges, and more freedom to progress. And with the game launching alongside the new movie, offering an expanded interactive experience beyond the film, fans of the franchise won’t want to miss playing it.”
Amazing Spider-Man 2 will feature the same free-roaming aspect as the original game, as well as a number of web-based tools Spidey can use to dispatch his enemies and find his way around.
Look for Spidey’s return next spring on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wi U, Nintendo 3DS and PC.
