No offense to the month of September, but it needs to end so we can play Sega and Creative Assembly's Alien: Isolation that debuts October 7. The core game sends Ellen Ripley's daughter on a terrifying journey to uncover her mother's fate while attempting to outwit a single alien.
That premise carries over to the game's Survivor Mode, which tasks players to avoid the dangerous creature within set time limits and with a limited number of resources. The retail version ships with one Survivor Mode map, Basement. Starting October 28, the first of five planned DLC packs will debut, complete with different maps, enemies and a playable character. When gamers complete challenges, they can post their best times to online leaderboards to compare with others.
If you'd like to save a bit of money, you can purchase the Alien: Isolation season pass through GameStop at a 25 percent discount; the final piece of DLC releases in March 2015.
Alien: Isolation has been on our must play list for months. Survivor Mode makes the game even more desirable. That said, we'll have detailed strategies as soon as it hits shelves.
