Barotrauma 

Though the gameplay differs from Lethal Company, the ambiance of this game is very similar. Play as part of a submarine crew (that’s in Jupiter’s moon ocean, mind you) that is trying to survive. Monsters will attack you; resources will run out, and crewmates will perish.. or betray you. How will you get through it? Up to 16 players can join this riveting 2D managing game. 

Darq 

If you’d like a good fright, then definitely check this one out. The co-op aspect is gone with Darq, but the eeriness and suspense are heightened. You’ll control Loyd, a boy who becomes aware that he is sleeping and tries to wake up. Sometimes his tries end up a bit… gruesome. You’ll have to think out of the box to solve the puzzles in this exploration game. After all, dream logic is kind of messed up, right? 

Secret Neighbor 

If you enjoy playing games where you know someone is lying, like Among Us or Werewolves, you’ll most likely enjoy this one. Pick one of the six available characters, each with their own special skill, and explore a dark house, trying to find the key to the basement to rescue another friend. If you’re selected by the game as the Secret Neighbor, though, you can shapeshift into a disturbing-looking clown and kidnap more kids. It is definitely a fun experience to try with your friends. 

Escape The Backrooms 

The famous backrooms, popularized by TikTok not too long ago, are now the scenario for this co-op exploration horror game. Backrooms are peculiar because they’re uncanny. Exploring them alone is thrilling, exploring them with friends is fun, and where there are entities that aren’t exactly your friends involved, the feeling is a bit uneasy. Voice chat is available in this game, but only if you’re close to your peers, so don’t get lost. Your ultimate goal is to escape, after all. 

SCP Containment Breach 

Despite being over a decade old, this game still stands strong. It is yet another exploration horror game, but instead of collecting things, your goal as a human test subject is to escape the facility you’re in. The SCP personnel are obviously trying to stop you, and they will not hesitate to use violence. Blinking is an interesting mechanic in this game; it’s something you have to do, but you shouldn’t do it too much. Who knows what might happen in a fraction of a second; your eyes are closed. 

Demonologist 

Very similar to Phasmophobia in the sense that you have to explore around looking for ghosts. This one is also a co-op game but features two additional gimmicks: not only do you have to track down the entities, because ultimately your goal is to identify them so you can exorcize them, but you also need to keep an eye on your Sanity Meter, which is essentially your stamina. Also, this game was developed in Unreal Engine 5, so it looks incredible. 

Deep Rock Galactic 

Now, try this co-op action-packed shooting game if you are looking for something less creepy and more shoot-monsters-fun-with-friends type. You will play as a Space Dwarf, and, along with your team, your mission is to explore, destroy aliens, and reach a designated goal. This game is so fun because the aliens are endless, and the cave system the actions take place in is procedurally generated. Not one mission will be like the other.
