Achieving a five-star rated zoo requires being near-perfect across the board, including ensuring that both your guests and your animals are content.

Below, we’ve outlined everything required to achieve a five-star zoo in Planet Zoo 2, alongside tips on how to get there.

What’s Needed For a Five-Star Zoo in Planet Zoo?

The rating system in Planet Zoo 2 is broken down into four separate chunks, each of which combine for your overall rating.

It covers everything from the happiness of your animals to the experiences of your guests, alongside a few other key details that it’s important to keep on top of.

Here’s a breakdown of the areas where your zoo is rated, which combine to detail your overall star rating.

  • Animal Husbandry: The average welfare of animals and having a subset of Thriving animals.
  • Sustainability: Percentage of recycling bins and sustainable energy sources.
  • Guest Education: The average education level of guests.
  • Guest Experience: Average happiness, overall scenery rating, and the number of species.

The key to increasing your overall rating in Planet Zoo 2 is to identify where you’re lacking, making use of the zoo overview screen to identify weak points.

Animal Husbandry requires plenty of work, particularly in research, to unlock all of the Thriving requirements for a species. Along the way, you may need to release them to a Wildlife Reserve to progress through a Research Gate.

Sustainability is the easiest area to max out on, as it only requires ensuring you’re using renewable energy sources and are placing recycling bins, rather than general trash bins. If you’re lacking in this regard, just switch out generators to a sustainable source, and add more recycle bins.

Guest Education is another that requires work, particularly unlocking new topics through research, but the general approach is to ensure every animal has education boards located near to its habitat or exhibit, covering a range of topics. Having tours and educators hosting animal talks also boosts the rating.

Guest Experience is perhaps the most complex of all to boost, given it covers everything from a guest’s happiness, which is broken down further by energy, hunger, thirst, and toilet, alongside having a wide variety of animals to view, boosting your scenery level, and having a diverse number of species.

The key to success is to keep on top of everything as you develop, rather than turning your attention to boosting these ratings later down the line, as that’s a much more complex job.
