Planet Zoo 2 launches with five Wildlife Reserves to manage, spread across three continents, with a variety of animals to release. Their welfare is your priority, but you’ll also need to ensure you are monitoring them closely.

If you’re looking to boost the score of your Wildlife Reserves in Planet Zoo 2, here’s some tips to try.

How to Build a Five-Star Wildlife Reserve

Increase Biodiversity

Biodiversity is one of the biggest aspects that contribute to your overall rating in a Planet Zoo 2 Wildlife Reserve, and is increased by releasing a wider variety of species into the Wildlife Reserve.

Each species needs to fulfil a variety of roles, however, and it’s important to have a mix of both terrestrial and aquatic species, alongside herbivores and predators.

The easiest way to keep track of your progress is along the bottom bar, next the the ‘Animals’ tab, which shows you the available species to release, and which one you have marked off.

Create More Ecosystems

Ecosystems are the habitats of the Wildlife Reserves in Planet Zoo 2 and represent the variety of areas where animals live, ranging from grasslands to lakes, swamps to forests, and more.

Each Wildlife Reserve has a set number of different ecosystems that can be built, each of which has different requirements on size, fauna, water levels, and more.

Further down the line, it’s important to step things up to have a Flourishing Ecosystem, though at first this isn’t important, and you should instead focus on getting the basics established.

Remove Pollution & Invasive Fauna

Likely only a problem when you first create a Wildlife Reserve and ecosystems, invasive fauna and any type of environmental pollution will provide a significant hit to the rating of your Wildlife Reserve.

The best approach is to focus on this area immediately when you create a Wildlife Reserve, as it’s easier to remove everything at this stage than it is later down the line.

The good news is, once removed, they won’t be a problem anymore, as there’s not currently any sort of feature for these negative impacts to return.

Build Observation Platforms

Observation Platforms are one of the few constructs you can add to a Wildlife Reserve, and allow you to monitor the environment and the creatures that you release.

Each Wildlife Reserve should have a few Observation Platforms built, making sure their areas of effect do not overlap, and, similarly to the invasive fauna and pollution, once they’re established, you won’t need to tweak the system any more.

Add Camera Traps & Acoustic Monitors

Alongside Observation Platforms, it’s important to add Camera Traps and Acoustic Monitors to your Wildlife Reserve to research the species you release, and these must cover a wide area.

There’s not a set number that is required and, instead, the process is marked by a per cent total. This is increased by placing more and spreading them in different areas, ensuring every species you release can be tracked.

Early in Franchise mode, however, these won’t be available to you, as they are unlocked when you reach specified Accreditation levels.
