Amiibo Wave 4 Preview – Ness, Pac-Man, Wario

Robin and Lucina will be the rarest, but don’t sleep on Ness from Earthbound.

There are two things U.S. amiibo fans need from Nintendo. The first is a surplus of amiibo so they can buy the ones they want. The second is a much-needed break from collecting.

Seriously.

We love amiibo, but all of the store hopping, exclusive figures and general scarcity left us feeling stressed and fatigued. A calm before the next proverbial storm would give everyone a chance to rest and chill out before the madness takes hold once again.

Thankfully we’ll receive the break we desperately require. The Super Mario Bros. amiibo lineup won’t hit stores until March 20, or somewhere around that date, and wave 4 of the Super Smash Bros. amiibo will debut in the spring. That gives us plenty of time to pre-order and then go back to our normal lives.

You should pre-order, by the way, because wave 4 could be the rarest yet. Not only does it include Ness, and good luck finding him, but also two characters from Fire Emblem. Considering Marth and Ike are practically nowhere to be found, and Ike just came out, we strongly suggest preparing well ahead of time.

With that in mind, this is the complete wave 4 amiibo lineup.

Wario

Mario’s greedy nemesis finally joins the amiibo ranks. We would’ve preferred his traditional yellow capped self, but it wouldn’t surprise us to see that variation in the next batch of official Super Mario Bros. figures, should Nintendo turn it into a series.

Considering how plentiful Mario, Peach and Bowser are in stores nationwide, we anticipate Wario being the most common wave 4 amiibo. You shouldn’t have much trouble finding him.

Charizard

Pikachu is one of the easiest amiibo to find. The Toys R Us exclusive Lucario? Not so much. That leaves Charizard’s fate unknown. Considering he’s one of the most well-known battle monsters from Nintendo’s iconic franchise, there’s a good chance that like Wario, you’ll stumble upon several of his amiibo come launch day. Of course, the opposite could be true, with an untold number of fans scooping up the popular fire-type Pokemon in mass quantities.

Pac-Man

The Pac-Man amiibo will look great standing next to Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog. That is, if you can find him. Bandai Namco’s ghost munching mascot, who rose to power in arcades during the 80s, should be one of the most sought after figures. Waka Waka!

Ness

Odds of you walking into a store and finding one Ness are slim at best. Although diehard Nintendo fans know him from the beloved SNES RPG, Earthbound, he’s niche enough to be rare and therefore almost impossible to track down. Suffice to say, you may need psychic powers to locate one without a pre-order.

Robin

Plenty of casual amiibo collectors passed on Marth and don’t plan to repeat this mistake with future Fire Emblem characters. With that in mind, this amnesiac traveler and tactician, Robin, will be in short supply. This is especially true because of his compatibility with the upcoming 3DS game, Code Name S.T.E.A.M., which comes with built-in support for all Fire Emblem amiibo.

Lucina

Finally there’s Lucina from Fire Emblem Awakening, Chrom’s daughter and princess; fun fact, she went by the name Marth before other characters discovered her true identity. Basically it’s the same deal as Ike. Pre-order or come up short.
