There are hundreds of animals for players to hunt in Red Dead Redemption 2. Many animal species feature a legendary variant that can be skinned for their valuable pelt, hide, or other parts, which can then be used to craft various outfits, talismans, and trinkets. One such animal is the beaver, which can be tricky to track down if you don’t know where to look. This guide will explain where to hunt beavers in Red Dead Redemption 2, as well as how to find a Legendary Beaver.
North American Beaver Locations
As you would expect, beavers can be found along various river banks near lakes or other bodies of water in Red Dead Redemption 2. There are a lot of rivers cutting through the map, though, so we’ve narrowed down some of the specific locations where beavers typically dwell in the game to help you get started. Here’s where to look for beavers in Red Dead Redemption 2:
- Along the Kamassa River in Roanoke on the east side of New Hanover, near Van Horn Trading Post.
- On the west banks of the Lannahechee River, on the southeast side of Lemoyne near Saint Denis.
- Along the Upper Montana River leading out of Lake Owanjila, west of Strawberry in the middle of West Elizabeth.
- Along the river that runs through Spider Gorge and into Lake Isabella on the northwest side of the map in Ambarino.
When hunting beavers in Red Dead Redemption 2, you will want to bring along a Varmint Rifle to take down the little critters and obtain their parts for crafting and cooking. Make sure you know how to get a perfect hide when hunting so that you can make the most of your kill in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Where to Find the Legendary Beaver
If it’s a Legendary Beaver you’re after, then you’ll have to make your way toward Elysian Pool, which is a small lake along the Kamassa River just northwest of Van Horn Trading Post. As mentioned above, you can find most North American Beavers along the Kamassa River as well, but the Legendary Beaver is specifically found in the section of river just south of Elysian Pool. Look for a beaver that has lighter hair than a typical beaver to spot one that’s legendary. We’ve highlighted the location on the map below.
Killing the Legendary Beaver in Red Dead Redemption 2 will grant you a Legendary Beaver Pelt and Tooth, each of which can be brought to a Fence or a Trapper to be crafted into special gear and trinkets. Try to get a clean kill to obtain a perfect hide that can be used in crafting recipes for better gear.
