This guide will help you earn an S Rank score in the mission An Angel with Broken Wings in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, and includes a list of the required and optional objectives available for this section. Note that it is not necessary to complete the optional objectives to earn an S Rank. You just need to accumulate a score of 130,000 or more via in-mission bonus modifiers. Earning the time bonus will greatly increase your chances of getting an S Rank score, so you should strive for this bonus above all others.
Objectives
- Extract the Mujahedeen prisoner called Malak (Mandatory).
- Extract the armored escort vehicle (Optional).
- Extract the three prisoners held at Lamar Khaate Palace (Optional).
- Extract the two prisoners held at Yakho Oboo Supply Outpost (Optional).
- Listen to the last conversation between the truck driver and Malak (Optional).
Walkthrough
Begin the mission by landing at the landing zone south of Lamar Khaate Palace. It is best to operate in the cover of darkness to avoid being seen, so opt for a mission time of 18:00 hours. We will also be skipping several steps in order to help you finish the mission quickly and efficiently.
Instead of tracking the prisoner, we will simply give you the prisoner’s location so that you can save time finding him. The prisoner is being transported in a jeep leaving Lamar Khaate Palace, and will be guarded by an armored vehicle flanking the jeep. Prepare for this mission by equipping some C4, your primary suppressed weapon, and of course your trusty steed D-Horse. The mission should only take about five or six minutes to complete if you follow along with our instructions.
The convoy carrying the prisoner will be travelling on a road heading northeast from the Lamar Khaate Palace. Quickly ride through the desert to try and intercept the convoy. Position yourself further up the road when you arrive, and use your binoculars to spot the convoy leaving the outpost. After planting several charges of C4 on the road, take cover and prepare for the convoy to drive through. This may also be a good time to call in your extraction helicopter, since it takes a couple minutes to arrive. Calling it in early will save you some time by not having to wait for it at the end of the mission.
The plan is to use the C4 to blow up the armored vehicle, not the jeep. Allow the jeep to pass by the C4 and use your suppressed weapon to shoot the driver and front passenger. Once the armored vehicle arrives a moment later, blow it up with the planted C4. Now, simply hop in the jeep with the prisoner and make your way to the helicopter landing zone for extraction. If you followed our guide, then you should complete this mission in just about five minutes, a time well worthy of an S Rank score.
