During today’s Nintendo Direct, president Satoru Iwata confirmed the forthcoming release of Kirby Triple Deluxe for Nintendo 3DS, the latest in the long-running platforming adventure series. The game features a new transition tactic, where Kirby can jump from background to foreground with ease, as well as additional “copy” abilities, which he acquires by devouring his enemies.

In addition to the single player adventure, the game will also feature a new mode called Kirby Fighters, where up to four players can take part in a fighting game. A new game called Dedede’s Drum Dash is also included, a music-driven mini-game that features several tunes from the Kirby series.

Look for Kirby Triple Deluxe in early 2014.
