Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Battle Techniques Beginner’s Guide

So you’re wanting to master the basics of combat in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. The good news is that it likely isn’t as hard as you think. You’ll be dealing with three techniques primarily as you progress throughout the title:

  1. Basic Moves
  2. Defense or Counter Moves
  3. Techniques

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Battle Techniques Beginner’s Guide – Basic Moves

You’re probably going to recognize a lot of these basic moves that you’ll use in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot as moves from the animated series. First off, there are martial arts moves which will be your bread and butter. We’ve also got access to signature things like Ki Blast moves, which have an increased energy-use for you (so be careful) but will do more damage to your opponents. You will also be able to use Special Attacks like the signature Kamehameha, though these are the most energy-intensive and will require evasive maneuvering before and after as you regain your power reserves.

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Battle Techniques Beginner’s Guide – Defense or Counter Moves

You have access to the technique Boost which you can use to put a healthy amount of distance between you and any foes that might be too deadly. This is particularly useful if you’re expecting them to come really hard at you with follow-up attacks. On the other hand, if you execute a successful Step back or away, everything will slow down and an animation of you defending yourself will play.

While guarding, you’ll also have the option to use the Burst technique to push your enemies back instead of defensively evading yourself. On top of that, the Vanish Attack also comes into play when you have your opponent on the back foot, and we definitely rate this as a strong counter.

You’ll want to be watching out for a few things here when it comes to overall techniques that aren’t just whether or not you can block or dodge effectively. You’re going to have to consider using Special Support Moves in fights where you’re given a support member, and we reckon that a smart use of the Surge skill is also key to victory: this will let you boost your ability to more frequently use special attack moves. Generally, you’ll also want to keep an eye on your enemy’s stun gauge – eliminating this will, as predicted, stun them and let you use your special attack to great effect (so it’ll synergize well with Surge).

Now that you’ve got our Dragon Ball Z Kakarot battle techniques guide to hand, taking baby’s first steps to effective combat should be a breeze.
