Destiny: House of Wolves – The Silent Fang

Avoid and disarm the traps as you hunt Skolas on Earth.

This House of Wolves story mission is part of the Gone to Ground quest that players will receive after they complete A Kell Rising. You can obtain it from Petra Venj on The Reef. The first part will require you to loot Fallen Vandals, Wanted Fallen, or Fallen Chests on Venus for Fallen Shiplinks. This can easily be done in about 10 minutes, and then you can progress forward to the story mission.

Head to Venus and choose the option to Patrol. When you arrive, hop on your Sparrow and take the turn to the right. You’ll come to a road with some destroyed and abandoned cards, as well as some Fallen enemies hanging out. Kill them, collecting any Fallen Shiplinks that they drop. You need 100 in total, but each one they drop should be worth four, meaning you really need 25.

When the area is clear, move forward and turn right, noticing some additional Fallen enemies near some ruins by a cliff. Kill them, collect any dropped Fallen Shiplinks, then backtrack to the first area we mentioned. Continue to move between the two groups of Fallen until you have all the Fallen Shiplinks that you need.

Return to The Reef and speak with Variks, the Loyal, then head back to Petra Venj to get an update on the Gone to Ground quest. You should now be able to travel to Earth and select The Silent Fang. Alter the difficulty as you see fit and choose the Launch option.

There will be some fairly light opposition when you begin. Either take the Shanks out, or simply run past them and follow the objective markers. If you don’t see them, press the same button you would to summon your Sparrow or return to Orbit and it should display on your screen. Just keep pushing forward and following the indicated path.

Take your time moving forward so that you don’t run into any of the trip mines that are sticking out of the walls. They are easy to spot, so shoot them at their base to remove them from your path and cautiously press on. There will be an Elder Vandal or two waiting past the first set. Take them out and follow the corridor.

Most of the mission is going to be a lot like this. You’ll have to watch out for traps every few feet, and you’ll be dealing with many different Fallen enemies, such as Tracer Shanks, Dregs, Elder Vandals, and more. Eliminate them as you go, destroying or avoiding the traps as you see fit. You really can’t get lost, so just follow the path forward until you emerge in the same area that you began the game in.

This is where it will get tough, so it helps if you have a three person team to approach it. You can do it with two people, or even solo, but obviously that makes things more difficult. Just try to move quickly and take out the ships full of foes as fast as you can. If you get pinned down or stop moving, the damage you take will pile up rather quickly. Movement is key, but so are big guns that deal a lot of damage. Hit these fools with everything you have to complete the mission, then return to The Reef to continue with the House of Wolves story line.
