Xbox Games Showcase Set for July 23

The Xbox Games Showcase promises to be one of the biggest in Microsoft's history, what are you most excited to see?

We knew that Microsoft had something big planned for the Xbox Series X in July, but up until now we didn’t have a set date. Now the July Xbox Games Showcase is set and coming at fans of Team Green on the 23rd. Even better, this showcase promises to be big.

Microsoft is kicking things off bright and early on July 23rd with the Xbox Games Showcase starting promptly at 9 AM PT as part of the Summer Game Fest from Geoff Keighley. While the team didn’t show off exactly what’s in store, 343 Industries confirmed earlier this year that they would have a new look at Halo Infinite. One source told Prima Games that we’ll also finally be getting the release date for this particular title, which is something many fans have been clamoring for.

More on Forza, Halo, and indies are also to be expected with rumors of a new studio acquisition reveal as well. Anything goes when it comes to this showcase, especially when considering Xbox’s Phil Spencer’s efforts with expanding the brand beyond what it has become in recent years. With more JRPGs, less focus on shooters, and a wider range of studios all pledging that Team Green love, it will be interesting to see what the next generation offers following the blunders of the 360.

Xboss Phil Spencer took over following the massive dip that the brand took with the 360. That generation, while it held promise, took the Xbox name and veered it away from its gaming focus and more into an all-in-one entertainment platform. Jack of all trades but master of none was very fitting for this time, but Spencer has been very transparent about his efforts to bring it back to where gamers deserve. We’ve seen the fruits of these efforts with acquisitions, Yakuza finally making it over onto Xbox, and so much more and that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what the Series X will have to offer.

What are you hoping to see from the upcoming July Xbox Games Showcase? Any thoughts on how the brand has evolved since the OG days?
