Skylanders Ring of Heroes is a mobile RPG that is adapted from the adorably popular Activision franchise in order to allow fans to take the impressive Skylanders experience with them on the go. The developers behind the mobile experience have been working tirelessly to continue bringing amazing content to the RPG, including new content and an expansive future for where Skylanders will go next.

We recently sat down with some of the members from Com2Us, the developers behind the latest Skylanders experience, to talk about what’s next for the mobile RPG. From new characters, to finally enjoying that feeling of a successful global launch, there’s a lot of reasons to be excited about Skylanders and its expansive future!

1) It has been a month since the Skylanders Ring of Heroes’ global launch. How does the team feel?

We are so delighted to finally be able to launch Skylanders Ring of Heroes in more than 120 countries around the world. We cannot even begin to express our gratitude to all the fans and players that made all of our hard work worthwhile. With that, thank you to our fans and players for your continued support and enthusiasm for the game.

2) Since the launch there have been consistent updates, with the most recent one revealing the game’s first two new Skylanders to join the Skylands. Could you tell us your plans or direction for future updates?

Every Skylander has their own charm and fascinating background stories. To help showcase them we developed a new mode called The Episode Dungeons. By playing through these dungeons, players can learn about these new Skylanders and get a better feel for their characteristics. One of the main goals for this feature was for us to be able to tell interesting backstories of each individual Skylander! This feature will renew periodically with different Skylanders and stories. We are also preparing an update for PvP, Guild, and other social features, which will be shared as soon.

3) Can you tell us more about the two new Skylanders who joined the Skylands after the update?

Nightfall is a heroic expert type Skylander of the dark element. Her skills are mostly focused on casting the Diminish effect on enemies with her hair and hooks. Her potential explodes when the enemy has enough Diminish effects stacked, dealing massive damage.

Blastermind is a legendary support type Skylander of the magic element. One of his special skills is that he can steal mana from the enemy team and distribute it to his own team. In addition to this powerful skill, he also has healing abilities which can be a formidable tool in prolonging the longevity of your team.

4) Can you tell me more about the Episode Dungeons? The concept of Skylanders becoming the main characters of the dungeon in this mode is very interesting.

As mentioned previously, delivering Skylanders’ unique stories to our players was our main goal. For example, as a portal master, players will follow Nightfall as she battles through events from her history against the boss Leviathan. There will be two types of stages — a story based stage where the featured Skylander will be the main protagonist and a free battle stage where you can bring across your own favorite Skylander. Once the story stages are cleared, you can use your own team to fight the villains again. Players will be able to earn special event currency called Dark Stones, which can be exchanged for special rewards.
