Fans Are Up in Arms Over the Ridiculous Arcane Jinx Skin in League of Legends

If only we can farm more money.

The release of the Fractured Jinx brings a lot of controversy to League of Legends, and it is mostly because of the new system they implemented to get these cosmetics. As most fans already know, the Fractured Jinx skin is not your typical skin. It is actually one of the few “Exalted” skins, and there are probably more coming.

This is one of the few reasons why it sparked a backlash among the fans, especially after the worldwide phenomenon Arcane, as Riot Games aims to capitalize on the show’s popularity spike and introduce an overpriced skin.

While the term “overpriced” is debatable, the system around what makes it overpriced is the real problem here.

The Sanctum System | Gacha or Pity System

The Sanctum “gacha” system is basically typical – open chests and get a chance to hit the jackpot, which is the Fractured Jinx skin in this case. This is similar to the previous system and also comparable to Teamfight Tactics’ gacha system. The Arcane Jinx Unbound skin might even be worse. However, the catch is always the drop rate of the skin.

The drop rate for an Exalted skin, in this case, the Fractured Jinx skin, is at an astonishingly low 0.5% chance. The only good thing about it is that when you pull at least 80 attempts, you’ll get the Fractured Jinx skin no matter how unlucky you get.

However, is this really a good thing? This is what the fans have been clamoring about because it takes 32,000 RP to pull 80 times. It is highly likely that you will spend 32,000 RP to get the Fractured Jinx skin because the drop rate is too low. In a way, you’ll have to drop more than $200 to get the skin, which is an astonishing number.

This is going to be a hard pill to swallow because even those who are willing to spend money to get their favorite skins cannot even buy them from the normal in-game store. It really makes you think that if they drop the price point or lower the threshold, might they convince more players to open their wallets?

Fractured Jinx Might be the Result of the Faker’s Hall of Legends Ahri Skin

While we have no way to confirm this, we can definitely look at the Hall of Legends Ahri skin and see what worked. The Hall of Legends Ahri skin costs a whopping $450 to get the Immortalized Legend Collection with a Signature. This made all the headlines as $450 is an absurd amount for a skin.

However, people don’t know that you can already get Faker’s Immortalized Legend Ahri skin for $250, which is around 32,430 RP. This is the same price point as the Fractured Jinx. There are still players who will get lucky and get the Fractured Jinx for less, whereas you can’t do that for the Ahri skin.

It could be their way of offering a slightly better system. Since they are pushing these limited-time skins at this price point consistently, it seems to be working.

The question is how well is it working, and will they increase it even more? Only time will tell, but we can surely expect to see these types of skins in the future because Faker’s legendary Ahri skin already caused a riot and they still doubled down with this skin.
