What did you think of Sony’s State of Play and the Pokemon Presents events that happened this week?

The State of Play had some weird “mid-tier Nintendo Direct” energy, like the video team was grasping to fill time before the Final Fantasy stuff. Maybe it’s just because I’m not really interested in Oddworld.

Was anything announced or shown during either of these that you’re excited about?

Gimme that Final Fantasy content. Frankly though, as cool as the PS5 updates for Remake are, I’m most interested in the Ever Crisis mobile game that was announced afterwards.

What are your thoughts on Pokemon revisiting the Diamond and Pearl games? Where do they rank in your list of favorite Pokemon games?

Diamond and Pearl happen to be my favorites. That was a period of maximum free time for me, so I had the bandwidth to really dive into stuff like the competitive scene. I even won a t-shirt at a GameStop tournament, haha.

Do you think we could be hearing from Xbox in March now that we’ve heard from both Sony and Nintendo?

I don’t think so. We already have a lot of information from the Xbox side on what’s coming, and in the meantime there’s been a lot dropping on the Xbox Wire. They can probably chill until the summer.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

Easily Morgan’s hacking story. Their interest in CD Projekt Red really paid off here, catching some information nobody else seemed to latch onto. It’s hard to do reporting when you don’t have big connections, so Morgan really did a lot with a little.

Are you playing any interesting games this weekend?

Honestly I have no idea. I finally got to Heavensward in Final Fantasy XIV, so more of that at least. Maybe some random PS2 game. My Sega journey hit a road bump since Phantasy Star 2 is kinda pissing me off so I’m taking a break.

What about TV, movies, anime, or music… anything you’d recommend there?

I saw Lindsay Ellis dropped a new video this week and YouTube media crit from people who are actually smart is my jam.

Bonus question, name your starter Pokemon picks from each gen (or the gens that you played)

Almost always water, unless we’re talking Diamond and Pearl. Then I go fire sometimes, but usually grass becuase Torterra is the biggest and best Earthquake Boy.

What did you think of Sony’s State of Play and the Pokemon Presents events that happened this week?

I was pleasantly surprised with both of them! FFVII Remake Intergrade is everything I wanted from a next-gen update and the Pokemon announcements was very exciting. Pokemon Legends: Arceus looks rough around the edges but it’s still a year out.

Was anything announced or shown during either of these that you’re excited about?

Most hyped on Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Been listening to the soundtrack all day on Spotify.

What are your thoughts on Pokemon revisiting the Diamond and Pearl games? Where do they rank in your list of favorite Pokemon games?

I really liked Diamond and Pearl. The Sinnoh region is easily one of the more interesting regions of the franchise. I’m excited to revisit it, despite not loving the visuals.

Do you think we could be hearing from Xbox in March now that we’ve heard from both Sony and Nintendo?

Yeah, the Bethesda/Microsoft acquisition finalizes in March, so once that is out of the way, I fully expect a small showcase similar to PlayStation.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

The video game hacking piece that Morgan put up this week is easily my favorite. Solid reporting all around and an issue more people need to talk about!

Are you playing any interesting games this weekend?

I’m going to dig more into the Outriders demo this weekend, and probably some more Valheim.

What about TV, movies, anime, or music… anything you’d recommend there?

Julien Baker put out her third album today. She’s my favorite artist and if you want to get real sad I highly recommend it.

Bonus question, name your starter Pokemon picks from each gen (or the gens that you played)

Squirtle, Cyndaquil, Treecko, Piplup, Snivy, Froakie, Popplio, Sobble

What did you think of Sony’s State of Play and the Pokemon Presents events that happened this week?

I feel like the State of Play was less eventful than I was expecting, but there were some great trailers in there like the ones for Sifu, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, and FNaF: Security Breach. Very excited for all three of those!

The Pokemon Presents was interesting, especially the Sinnoh focus. The open world Pokemon game really looks wonderful. I also liked what was shown for New Pokemon Snap, the quality of life improvements there are fantastic.

Was anything announced or shown during either of these that you’re excited about?

In terms of new announcements, Sifu really caught my eye during the State of Play. For Pokemon, it has to be that open world Pokemon game. It’s been something fans have wanted for a while, it looks like a lot of work is being poured into it. I’m excited to see how it turns out.

What are your thoughts on Pokemon revisiting the Diamond and Pearl games? Where do they rank in your list of favorite Pokemon games?

I’m a little surprised, I was really expecting a natural progression from Let’s Go into Let’s Go 2 for Gold and Silver. I wasn’t expecting Diamond and Pearl this soon. As far as where they rank for me, not as high as the nostalgic ones from my childhood like Gold and Silver. I’m in the minority of Pokemon fans that is so-so on Sinnoh. It’s neither love nor hate, Sinnoh is right in the middle for me.

Do you think we could be hearing from Xbox in March now that we’ve heard from both Sony and Nintendo?

I think so, even if it’s just a quick little showcase talking about Game Pass, maybe a few indies, maybe some Bethesda nods. If not March, I feel like April or May for sure.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

The GnG review from Lucas is stellar, a lot of work was put into it and it has convinced me I need to check out the game. Also loved the Voidigo feature from Jesse, it answers a lot of the questions I had about the game. Adding a nod to the CD Projekt Red hack piece I worked on, I’m really proud of it and the work I put into it.

Are you playing any interesting games this weekend?

The beta for Chivalry 2 has been extended so that’s what I’ll be playing this weekend. I’ll probably have a preview ready to go on Monday, very excited!

What about TV, movies, anime, or music… anything you’d recommend there?

On a music kick lately, if you’re into kpop or are open to the idea of listening to it, I highly recommend the new track from Kang Daniel called Paranoia. The video and song perfectly describes what it’s like to suffer from anxiety, it resonated with me a lot. I also adore the new track from Chung Ha called Bicycle

Bonus question, name your starter Pokemon picks from each gen (or the gens that you played)

Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil, Torchic, Piplup, Oshawott, Fennekin, Litten, Scorbunny.
