The Overview Trailer is a little over five minutes long and is jam-packed with information. Curious about the game? Join us in taking a closer look at the things highlighted in the Overview Trailer for Mario Golf: Super Rush!

Get To Know Mario Golf: Super Rush With This New Overview Trailer

The Overview Trailer opens by touting the easy-to-learn controls of Mario Golf: Super Rush, noting that anyone can become a golf master. Mario Golf: Super Rush supports both button controls and motion controls.

As simple as playing is using these button and motion controls, there’s a lot more to the game than just swinging at golf balls. In the Overview Trailer, the narrator mentions that you’ll want to study things like the wind and terrain of the course you’re playing on before taking your shot.

You’ll also have options available to you like Curve Shots which bend the ball and help you get around obstacles. With the Shot Gauge, you can further assess the direction your golf will take based on terrain like slopes, and you can “Scan” to examine the terrain of the course you’re on a bit further.

All of these features together add a nice element of strategy to the game, while still managing to keep things fun and lighthearted for things like group settings. Speaking of which, Mario Golf: Super Rush supports up to four players.

You and the people you’re playing with will be able to choose between 16 different characters with each character sporting their own individual skills and strengths.

  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Wario
  • Waluigi
  • Princess Peach
  • Daisy
  • Yoshi
  • Bowser
  • Bowser Jr.
  • Boo
  • Donkey Kong
  • Rosalina
  • Pauline
  • Toad
  • Chargin’ Chuck
  • King Bob-omb

A few noteworthy character abilities include Rosalina who can turn balls into Star Bits on impact, and King Bob-omb who spawns bombs in landing zones. We don’t know everything about what these characters can do, but we’re definitely looking forward to testing all of these characters out ourselves when the game releases on June 25.

In the event you’re feeling competitive – like if you get really good with a particular character – and want to practice against other players but don’t have anyone nearby to play with you locally, Mario Golf: Super Rush supports online play though a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to utilize this feature.

Other things on display in the Overview Trailer include the game’s beautiful courses with more traditional golf courses shown all the way to wild Mario-themed courses with obstacles and hazards like lava.

The pacing of the game isn’t slow, but if you’re someone who wants a bit more action Mario Golf: Super Rush has you covered with modes like Speed Golf which adds running as fast as you can after your ball while your opponents do the same.

Connecting to each character having their own strengths and weaknesses, each character has their own Special Dash that can help give you an edge in getting past your opponents while you’re chasing down your ball, or just making life harder for them in general.

Characters also have a unique Special Shot that can knock your opponents balls out of the way and help you get ahead. All in the spirit of friendly competition, you know? And along the course, you’ll find items that’ll help you restore stamina after you use things like your Special Dash.

If you find yourself enjoying things like the Special Dash and running around courses while your opponents struggle to catch up behind you, there’s another mode that’ll likely pique your interest called Battle Golf.

It’s a little like Speed Golf, but you’ll need to claim as many of the nine holes on the course you’re playing on as you can before your opponents do. Specifically, the first person to capture three flags by claiming these holes will win.

Finally, there are some relaxed single-player elements to Mario Golf: Super Rush including the Golf Adventure mode where your Mii character can run around, speak with local NPCs, practice, and complete quests and challenges (all relating to golf, of course).

For those looking to test their skills in single-player, not just practice, there are also boss fights and a system of leveling up your Mii and improving your stats in things like Power, Stamina, Speed, Control, and Spin. What you put points in and improve is entirely up to you.

Adding incentive to leveling up your Mii, you’ll be able to use it as a character option to compete against other players. It’s not just characters like Mario, Luigi, and Wario, your Mii is a valuable character option that you’ll be able to tailor to your individual style of play.

Out of everything shown in the Overview Trailer, this definitely caught our attention the most and we’re curious to see how many players will opt to level up and use their Mii as opposed to using a character like Mario.

All in all though, the Overview Trailer is awesome and really runs through some of the most exciting features of Mario Golf: Super Rush. For more on Mario Golf: Super Rush, be sure to watch the full Overview Trailer on YouTube. We’ve also embedded the video for you down below.

If you know for certain you’re going to buy and play the game, pre-orders are available now at retailers like Amazon ahead of the game’s June 25 release!
