What is Halo Wars 2?

Halo Wars 2 is a direct sequel to the original Halo Wars, which allowed players to experience a new story within the Halo universe in the form of a real-time strategy game. Players will take control of various units and must complete objectives to solve the mysterious of the Ark, a mysterious Forerunner facility responsible for the creation of the massive Halo rings that play an integral part in the original series.

Though Halo Wars 2 follows the story of a different group of heroes, it still plays a vital part in the Halo timeline. You can find out when Halo Wars 2 takes place with our handy guide.

How Can I play Halo Wars 2?

Though the original Halo Wars was only available on Xbox 360, the sequel will be available as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, similar to ReCore, Gears of War 4, and Forza Horizon 3.This means users will be able to pick the game up on Xbox One or Windows 10 PCs and play the title on either platform at any time. The game will not be available on Steam, though, so Windows users will need to own a Windows 10 PC with the Windows 10 Anniversary update installed to be able to play any games from the Windows Store.

When Does it Release?

Halo Wars 2 will initially release on February 17 for those who preorder the Ultimate Edition. This version of the game will also include some extra bonuses, like a remastered copy of the original Halo Wars, which will allow Windows users to play the game on their PCs for the first time. Users who preorder the regular edition of the game will be able to dive in on February 21, when the game releases worldwide. Both the Xbox One and PC versions of the game will release at the same time.

How Much Does it Cost?
