E3 2016: Biggest Bethesda Announcements

Dishonored 2, Quake Champions, Prey and more are coming your way from Bethesda!
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

The Bethesda E3 2016 press conference showcase was full of current and upcoming games from the famed publisher. Last year was the first time Bethesda held an E3 press conference, and the publisher used the opportunity to officially unveil Fallout 4 as well as other huge games from their various development teams. This year the announcements were a bit lighter, but still significant in their own regard.

Dishonored 2

While the sequel to Dishonored was announced at the Bethesda press conference last year, the publisher has been very quiet about it for the past 12 months. This year fans got their first real taste of gameplay from the upcoming title that will be releasing this November for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Sporting two playable characters and a slew of new gameplay elements added on to the trademark gameplay of the original, fans of Dishonored should be excited about what’s to come.

Skyrim Special Edition

One of the biggest RPGs of the last console generation is getting the remaster treatment for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The newly upgraded title has seen significant improvement from the original release, with all of the mods and expansions included in the bundle in addition to the impressive visual improvements. PC gamers who own the original release and DLC will be getting Special Edition for free as a thank you from Bethesda.

Prey

The Prey franchise is back with what was once Prey 2 and has now become a reboot for the series. Very little information is available on the title, but if you were a fan of the first game, expect more of the same, but with everything kicked up a notch. More news will become available at QuakeCon 2016 in August, so sit tight until then!

Quake Champions

Following the extremely successful launch of Doom just last month, id Software and Bethesda have teamed up again for a new entry in the famed Quake series. Quake Champions will run at a blistering speed to make sure that fans of the series are taken back to the old days of Quake when FPS games were lightning fast. There will be a heavy focus on esports to make sure that the original arena shooter is embraced by the competitive community. With a multitude of playable characters with unique abilities and appearance, Quake is back and better than ever. Expect more information at QuakeCon in August.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends

Bethesda announced the Elder Scrolls digital card game at its press conference last year, with a PC beta starting earlier this year. More spots will be opened up in the beta this week, with the game releasing on PC, Android and iOS platforms later this year. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it’s very similar to Blizzard’s Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, with two characters duking it out with various card draws that have a variety of abilities.
