Stranger Things is officially invading Dead by Daylight, but obtaining a high profile Netflix series such as this couldn’t have been easy. We sat down with Game Director Mathieu Cote to talk about what it was like for the team when looking to score high-ticket properties such as the hit Netflix series.

“It’s a process that can be hard,” Cote tells Prima Games. “But it can be very easy. In the case of Stranger Things, we were very lucky in the fact that Netflix, the people we talked to at Netflix, knew about [Dead by Daylight] and they were excited about the opportunity for us to do this partnership.”

He also mentions that it was surprisingly easy to add the Stranger Things universe to their growing lineup of collected horror icons. “Both sides are excited to work with both licenses and it was just fun,” Cote adds. He also dropped that this collaboration began before season 3, which made the need for total collaboration and communication to be key as to not mess up any in-show lore or to spoil anything for those looking forward to the most recent season. “We had to bring things to players that would make sense for where [Netflix] was taking the series.”

From a new Killer and Survivors, the next chapter also introduces a new map as well. According to the studio behind the thrasher title, “The Entity descends on the Midwestern town of Hawkins as Stranger Things, the critically acclaimed Netflix Original Series enters the realm of Dead by Daylight,” reads the video’s description.

“The Chapter introduces a new Killer and two new Survivors to the realm of The Entity: the monstrous, otherworldly Demogorgon is the new untamable Killer. Against it stands not one, but two, new Survivors: Nancy Wheeler, a tough aspiring journalist, and Steve Harrington, a former high school jock with a knack for finding trouble.

“The Stranger Things Chapter comes with a new map, the Underground Complex. Located below the Hawkins National Laboratory, this grim compound caused an inter-dimensional rift that released dozens of creatures before being sealed off.”

Getting Stranger Things was a huge win for the Dead by Daylight brand and we can’t wait to see where this horror title goes next. As for the game itself, you can get in on the horror-action on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch!
