The new video comes by way of the Ars Technica podcast and it showcases Creative Director Mac Walters talking about our beloved Mass Effect franchise in celebration of N7 Day for this year. While usually this day houses big reveals, the team’s focus is squarely on the new Dragon Age coming up as well as few other unannounced projects, so while a new Mass Effect is on the way – it’s still a long ways off.

He began by talking about what he believes the “canon Shepard” story is – which was met with a pretty vague answer to stay on the safe side since there are so many ways Shepard can go – though he did talk about his own playthrough where he destroyed the reapers and his Shepard died with no sudden breath cutscene.

What I found interesting is the question about husks. “Do reaper husks retain any of the personality of the converted individual, even if they have no control over their own actions,” asked redditor ‘Gatsu66’. Though the answer should be obvious, it was a relief to see that – canonically – that husks are just that: husks. They don’t retain any of the personality traits or memories of the victim, which is a relief because talk about traumatic.

There are other answers he tackled, which you can see in the video above. What are some of your unsolved mysteries regarding the Mass Effect story that you’d be interested in learning more about? More about the Leviathan, perhaps? Or maybe more on “Brain Camp” and the origin story of the Illusive Man explored through the books and comics? Sound off with your N7 Day thoughts over on Twitter @PrimaGames! Or you can hit me up @DirtyEffinHippy! With over 31 playthroughs of the trilogy, I will never turn down an opportunity to talk Mass Effect.
