Sony delivered quality games to PS4 this year. LittleBigPlanet 3 should make a dent in holiday sales when it arrives later this month, The Last of Us Remastered turned out to be one of the best re-releases in years and Infamous: Second Son showed showcased new tricks with an older license.
That said, the publisher is just getting started, as its 2015 game line-up looks stellar – and all the more reason to pick up a PlayStation 4 if you haven’t already. On that note, here are the biggest exclusives that’ll hit PS4 in 2015.
Alienation
This downloadable shooter from Housemarque, the same team that brought us Resogun and Super Stardust HD, looks promising to say the least. You play an armored soldier that deals with a gigantic horde of invading enemies, using every bit of firepower you can get your hands on. In addition to a robust single-player campaign, Alienation will also feature co-op, so your friends can join the fun.
Tearaway Unfolded
After making a huge impact on the PlayStation Vita, Media Molecule’s charming adventure will make its PlayStation 4 debut. In Unfolded, you play a hero working his way through a paper-mache style world, solving puzzles and battling enemies. Like the Vita version, the game should utilize the thumb pad in a number of brilliant ways, so you can interact with the world and even become a part of it if you own a PlayStation camera.
Until Dawn
Until Dawn has been in development for some time, but it finally looks like it’ll make its way to PS4 next year – just in time to scare people silly. This interactive horror adventure follows eight friends as they make their way to a mountain retreat, unaware that a deranged killer is on the loose. With haunting visuals and plenty of chilling scenarios, Until Dawn should have no problem getting under your skin.
Bloodborne
Set to arrive this February, Bloodborne is the latest effort from From Software, the developers of the Dark Souls games. It has a lot in common with those titles, as your hero fights his way through a Victorian world, dealing with creepy ghouls and other nasty creatures around every turn. With a cool design that takes advantage of the PS4 hardware and challenging gameplay, Bloodborne should easily be one of 2015’s most notable releases.
The Order: 1886
After spending a great deal of time developing God of War games for the PSP, Ready At Dawn Studios will enter the next level with its action/adventure The Order: 1886. You play the leader of a group of monster hunters, using next-level weaponry to bring them down. However, you’ll have to deal with human foes as well, since not everyone is keen to your presence in the local village. Featuring cinematic graphics and exciting gameplay, this game should attract lots of attention.
Ratchet & Clank Remastered
With a Ratchet & Clank film headed to theaters in 2016, Sony thought it would be wise to introduce the duo to the PlayStation 4 the right way – with a remastered take on its original adventure. Insomniac Games is lending a hand in the game’s development, and says it will look better than ever before. Expect more details on this remake sometime around E3 – along with a new movie trailer, of course.
Shadow of the Beast
Shadow of the Beast is a franchise that’s been lurking around since the 80s, back when it was introduced on the Amiga. However, Sony intends to bring it to the modern-day scene like never before, with a beautifully twisted art style and plenty of combat to go around. This one should be a huge hit come E3 2015, giving us something to rip through while we wait for the next God of War
Rime
Michel Ancel, the creator of the Rayman franchise, teamed up with Tequila Works to produce a bold new adventure that will no doubt take advantage of the PS4’s capabilities. In Rime, you’ll be able to play as humans and animals alike as you traverse a mysterious new world, filled with danger and excitement. Expect this to be one of the bigger sleeper hits of the year.
No Man’s Sky
The small but sufficient team at Hello Games has become known for its line-up of Joe Danger games. By 2015, we’ll be seeing them in a whole new light with the release of No Man’s Sky. This breathtaking exploratory adventure resembles an endless journey into space, as you fly from planet to planet, seeking out new life and soaking in the fantastic visuals that come with it. Don’t be surprised if this becomes an independent darling – and a best-seller to boot.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
2015 could easily be Uncharted’s greatest to date. Naughty Dog’s franchise has seen some fantastic entries thus far, but with this coming year, we may see a complete Uncharted collection of some kind (not confirmed yet, but likely), and also the final chapter in the saga, A Thief’s End, which will push Nathan Drake and his friend Sully to the brink as they face their most dangerous foe to date. Indeed, this could be Sony’s top pick to clean up next year’s game-of-the-year honors, if Naughty Dog plays its cards right.
