It's about to become very real.

On August 26, Dazed ran an exclusive story in which several GTA 6 features were seemingly confirmed. The full article is a good read, but if all you want are the features that have been confirmed, I’ve got you covered.

All GTA 6 Features Confirmed

GTA 6 Will Be More Realistic

We have confirmation that the world in GTA 6 will be more reactive, meaning you can no longer just whip out a rocket launcher in the middle of a crowded street and have idle NPCs that don’t really care. Dazed had this to say about Rockstar’s intentions with GTA 6: “…the goal is to create a world of total immersion, which reacts more realistically than ever to what you choose to make of it.”

While this does sound like we’ll lose a bit of what made the previous GTA games, I’m also really excited to see just how far we can push this system.

Swappable Characters, Fluid Couple-Based Gameplay

You will be able to swap between Jason and Lucia, even when they’re together. One example the article highlights is that while travelling to a job, “players can cruise along the highway as Jason, or swap to Lucia in the passenger seat to scroll on the in-game phone.”

You can also go off and cause chaos on your own, but as a couple, imagine switching mid-cop chase to do some shooting, then hopping back in the driver’s seat with a quick switch. That honestly sounds really cool.

There will also be a dynamic relationship between the two, so making choices against the other partner’s wishes sounds like it could have a negative effect.

Working In-Game Social Media

After mentioning the in-game phone in the above quote, the article goes on to say, “Yes, there are working social media feeds – what satirical take on 2020s America would be complete without them?”

This certainly makes it sound like we’re getting something far more alive in terms of social media than what we’ve ever had in a GTA game. GTA 5’s social media reacted to scripted story events, but apart from that, it was hardly worth checking up on.

Obviously, RDR2’s setting doesn’t allow for social media, so the most recent example we had was GTA 5, and I’m sure GTA 6’s social media will be a monumental upgrade.

Dynamic Weight and Body Shape

It’s been confirmed that food and exercise will both affect Jason and Lucia’s bodies, making them lose and gain weight, as well as affecting muscle size and tone. They’ll even need to sleep from time to time or suffer some consequences.

“…if you end up spending a long time away from your bed,” the article says, “their features are going to pay the price for that as well.”

This makes it sound like a cosmetic thing, but it’s extremely possible there could be a few debuffs to physical performance and aim as well. Either way, it sounds like we’ll need to be a bit more mindful to survive and thrive on the streets of Leonida in GTA 6.

GTA 6 NPCs Are More Diverse Than Ever Before

Gone are the days of finding lookalike NPCs around every corner, by the sounds of things. “…the bodies and clothes of the virtual masses are also far more varied than in previous games,” the article reads, “and more tailored to their local environments.”

The first part of that statement sounds exciting, offering an extra layer of immersion into the world of GTA 6. The second bit, well, that’s been done before. I’ve never seen a beachgoer on a hiking trail in GTA 5, for example.

But still, it’s good to know that Rockstar hasn’t pulled any punches, as it rarely does, in creating a mind-bending new world for us to explore.

There’s More to Come

With the Extended Look just hours away at the time of writing, we’re about to get tons more information on GTA 6. We’ll also get to hear from our favourite streamers and content creators, since many of them were invited to Rockstar North last month and have a bunch of information ready to share with us.

So get some rest and get ready for what should be a seriously fun-packed few hours.

A big shoutout to Dazed, who made this article publicly available on their website. If you’d like, check out their full article here (it’s a great read), and maybe even check out their print magazine, in which this article will also feature.

I’ll be over on our dedicated GTA Wiki, GTA 6 Bible, updating our information and sharing any major news and further confirmed features as we go. Hope to see you over there (do say hi in the comments).

As a lifetime gamer, I was around to enjoy the NES, witness the birth of the PS1, and live through the golden age that was the PS2. My favorite game (no doubt driven by nostalgia) is Final Fantasy VII, but I'm always on the lookout for my new favorite.
