Earlier this month, HBO confirmed that Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin joined forces with Naughty Dog to bring the tragedy of The Last of Us to fans in the form of a new TV series. Fans were hyped for this, and one, in particular, took that excitement to the next level by creating an awesome fan-made HBO intro.

Gibbs knows a thing or two about creating epic TV and film experiences with his work at The Empire Design and this tribute to The Last Of Us is beyond incredible. Though we probably won’t be seeing the new series until 2022 at the latest, this short intro is beyond accurate and could easily be seen as official marketing material. Maybe it’s time for him to take on this freelance contract, we’re just saying! It’s that good!
Regarding the series itself, the creator of The Last of Us had nothing but shining things to say about Mazin and his leadership of this project: “From the first time I sat down to talk with Craig, I was equally blown away by his approach to narrative and his love and deep understanding of The Last of Us,” said Neil Druckmann. “With Chernobyl, Craig and HBO created a tense, harrowing, emotional masterpiece. I couldn’t think of better partners to bring the story of The Last of Us to life as a television show.”
The upcoming show is set to follow Joel as he smuggles a then 14-year old Ellie out of a quarantine zone where they must face the horrors of a non-human apocalypse. With The Last of Us Part II on the horizon, it’s even possible that this show could fill in the blanks between the two games since there’s a bit of a time jump there with a much more grownup Ellie as she faces her own horrors.
