Insomniac Games and EA Team Up For Facebook Game Outernauts

If you're a member of the social network, the folks behind Resistance have something they want to show you.

When Insomniac Games departed exclusive PS3 development last year, it immediately teamed up with Electronic Arts for a series of projects.  One is the upcoming action game Overstrike which should no doubt be shown again next month at E3.  The other one is arriving much, much sooner.

Today the companies announced the new project, a Facebook game called Outernauts.  The game is currently in beta and set for a wide release this summer, and is an adventure role-playing game where you send Outernauts to the far reaches to the galaxy, capturing and training “exotic alien beasts” while fighting in battles that unlock secrets of your ancestors.

“As we have demonstrated for nearly 20 years in the console games space, we’re confident we can help evolve the definition of a game experience on Facebook,” said Insomniac president Ted Price.  “With Outernauts, we are delivering a deep story with real RPG strategy, coupled with Insomniac’s signature sense of humor.”

Look for Outernauts to launch sooner rather than later, and check back soon for more info on Overstrike.
