How to Fix Building Shaders Taking Forever in Dead Space Remake

That's a whole lot of building.

Dead Space Remake is now available across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with players finally donning their engineering suit and plasma cutter to take on the necromorph hordes. The prospect of playing Isaac Clarke again is quite exciting, though you may be encountering an annoying issue on the first launch. Here’s how to fix Building Shaders taking forever in the Dead Space Remake.

Why is Building Shaders Taking Forever in Dead Space Remake?

If you’ve played any Call of Duty games in recent years, then you might be slightly familiar with this. We aren’t going to go into technical jargon, though Building Shaders will prevent the game from running terribly due to having to build shaders every time you enter a new room. It’s a necessary process, though it tends to take a long time on your first bootup of the game. It could take as long as 10 minutes even, so try to be patient first.

If the game still hasn’t finished Building Shaders at that point, and the circle in the bottom right still spins (if it isn’t, then the game froze), then you can safely restart the game and try again. If again it isn’t finished, then we suggest either repairing the game or verifying the files on your platform. Given the few PC storefronts the game is on along with consoles, your method of doing so will vary. It will always be outside of the game though.

If all else fails, you may be forced to reinstall the game entirely. This is frustrating, but thankfully, Dead Space Remake is small by modern-day standards at around 30-40GB. Hopefully, one of these methods helps you out regardless. If it did, best of luck exploring the Ishimura and finding Nicole!
