Early on in the game, the Divine Dragon will only have a handful of units to help her survive the new world she’s woken up in. From her steadfast stewards to the knightly Vander. That makes leveling up these units one of the most significant things you can do, especially if you hope to survive the chaos that’s coming. But one particular character might be stubbornly stuck at Level 2. Why isn’t Vander leveling up in Fire Emblem Engage? Here’s the answer.
Why Is Vander Not Leveling up in Fire Emblem Engage – Answered
Vander is one of the most powerful units and allies Alear has at the start of the game. Not only does he have fantastic movement, but he’s also dealing massive damage. Also, his outfit’s pretty cool, too. Like, way cooler than Clanne and Framme’s vaguely mall-peasant outfits.
All the above are hints about why Vander isn’t leveling up faster than the others. By checking his stats in inventory, we can see that he’s classed as Paladin. This is an advanced class, requiring a Master Seal to promote into. And while Master Class units have better stats and abilities, they suffer from one thing. They’re much higher level (even if it doesn’t seem like it) and thus require a significant amount of experience to reach the next level.

The handful of Corrupted Alear and the rest encountered throughout the story are unlikely to give Vander the exp he needs to reach the next level. But this won’t last forever. As the Corrupted and Alear’s enemies grow stronger, Vander will start achieving levels at a much healthier rate. And soon, Alear and the rest will have to go through the same process as you begin to collect Master Seals and begin promoting the rest of your team.
