Fire Emblem Engage is a game where the characters get better the further into the game you get. And one of those fantastic characters is Ivy, the Crown Princess of the Fell-Dragon-worshipping nation, Elusia. She enters your army and your heart on the back of a Wyvern; things can only get better here. Here’s the best class for Ivy in Fire Emblem Engage.

Best Class for Ivy in Fire Emblem Engage

First things first, Ivy is a fantastic unit. She might not be able to compete the with likes of Anna and Kagetsu, but she’s very strong. And she has two classes which work best for her: Sage and Lindwurm. Both classes prioritize Tomes and Staves, but where they differ is their abilities and movement.

Sage offers Spell Harmony, meaning that if Ivy initiates combat with a tome, she receives an attack bonus equal to the number of adjacent allies with tomes. Useful if you intend to run a Magic-heavy army.

Lindwurm, in contrast, offers Grasping Void. This ability means that when Ivy attacks with a tome, she might deal extra damage, which is calculated by half of the Foe’s magic stat. What triggers it is Ivy’s dexterity stat. And Ivy has decent, but not fantastic, Dexterity. Still, this ability is more useful if Ivy is one of your only Tome users.

But what should really seal the deal for you is the way you intend to use Ivy. The Sage class sees the most growth in an even split between Magic and Resistance, meaning that Ivy will primarily function as a backline Tome-user, prioritizing damage over all else.

Lindwurm, in contrast, allows Ivy to be much more self-sufficient as she sees better Defense stat growth. This allows her to accompany another unit deep into the battlefield, help sustain that unit, and offer damage where needed. For example, with a Sowrdmaster Kagetsu or Successeur Diamant.

In my opinion, Ivy is a lesser Sage when compared to units like Anna. She’s better used to fill in the gaps by flying in and supporting your army when they need help or positioning herself in a way that allows her to snipe enemies from afar. For that reason, Lindwurm simply seems more natural for her.

If you choose to opt for Lindwurm Ivy, Micaiah is the best Emblem Ring for her. But a Sage Ivy will benefit from Celica’s damage boosts.
