Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Gym Leaders may seem like pushovers the first time you encounter them through the game’s main storyline, but as it turns out, they were just being easy on you. Pretty nice of them to put their reputations on the line, if you ask me. However, at a certain point in your journey, you’ll have the option to rematch each one of them – and they won’t be messing around when you return. If you’re ready for round two with Paldea’s finest, continue reading to learn how to rematch the Gym Leaders in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Rematching the Gym Leaders is part of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s post-game content, meaning you’ll have to meet some prerequisites before you’re considered worthy for another round. To be able to rematch the Gym Leaders, you’ll first need to finish all three main story paths:
- Victory Road – Defeat all eight Gym Leaders in Paldea
- Path of Legends – Defeat all five Titans as well as the final fight afterward
- Starfall Street – Defeat all five Team Star leaders as well as the final fight afterward
After completing all three story paths, you’ll receive a call from Arven, who wants you to meet him in a peculiar location in Paldea – the Great Crater.
Reach the bottom of Area Zero and defeat the final boss. Congratulations – you’ve officially reached post-game in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Once you’re finished, return to the Academy in Mesagoza where you’ll encounter Geeta. She’ll instruct you to check out all eight Gyms around Paldea again, which will give you the opportunity to battle all the Leaders once more.

But be careful; the Gym Leaders won’t go easy on you this time. Each Leader will have a team of five Pokemon all at Level 65. As such, it’s highly recommended to take a party around the mid-60s if you want any chance of surviving.
If you’re successful in defeating all eight Leaders once again, you’ll get a call from Geeta. Meet her at the Academy once more, where she’ll ask you a few questions and eventually reward you with the King’s Rock item.
Rest in your dorm room and then leave it. Nemona will be waiting outside with some good news – you’ll now be able to participate in one of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s biggest challenges: the Academy Ace Tournament.
