Where to Get Metal Coat in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Imagine trying to force a coat on a Scyther – its arms are literally blades. Why not a metal bustier instead?

There is one Type in Pokemon that reigns supreme over all others – Steel. It’s a typing that’s received a lot of nerfs since its introduction in Generation 6, as it resisted 13 different Types. Brutal, when combined with Steel Pokemon’s notoriously sky high defense. And while those glory days are over, as Steel no longer resists Dark and Ghost, it’s still the best Type to have on your team.

For that reason, you might be wondering how to find a Metal Coat, a hold item that boosts your Pokemon’s Steel Type moves.

Or you might have a buddy you like enough to want to send over a Metal Coat wearing Scyther. Either way, where can you get your hands on this item?

Where to Get Metal Coat in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Sad to say, while many hold items can be found in the overworld in the form of sparkles, the Metal Coat remains stubbornly elusive. If you want to get your hands on this item, there seem to only be two options.

The first option is to head to Porto Marinada in the West. There, four stalls in the market will be selling one unique or rare item at a low price. It’s possible that a Metal Coat will be on the auction floor and that you can bid to add it to your collection of hold items.

But a much more efficient way is to simply go to Delibird Presents and buy it for 3,000 Pokedollars. Simply head to Levincia (North), and you should see the Metal Coat in the shop’s wares. But if it’s not there, it’s possible you need another gym badge for it to unlock. It seems the magic numbers are 4 Gym Badges or 6 Gym Badges.

Good luck getting that Coat, Trainer!
