Turn-Based 25th Anniversary Adventure One Piece Odyssey Coming to PC and Consoles in 2022

One Piece turns 25 this year, which is absolutely wild considering we’re talking about a weekly manga series written by one guy (he has assistants for all the art though!). Part of this milestone celebration is a new One Piece videogame, with a storyline not only supervised by mangaka Eiichiro Oda, but also considered “canon” in the One Piece universe. One Piece Odyssey is set to release in 2022.

A press release explains that the Straw Hat Pirates encounter a brand-new character named Aido on a never before-seen island, and will explore and fight “powerful enemies and massive bosses” in a turn-based combat system. The trailer shows some action, but no hint of UI elements or what that combat looks like. But the press release confirms you’ll be able to use nine of the Straw Hats, comprising Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, Nami, Chopper, Robin, Franky and Brook.

Oda provided a silly drawing with the announcement, and a message including the (translated) statement “It felt like I was watching a MOVIIIE!!! What incredible immersion!!”

One Piece Odyssey is currently aiming for a 2022 release, for the PlayStation and Xbox consoles along with the PC. No mention of a Switch release as of this announcement.
